Onison Online Privacy Statement (OPS)
This Onison Online Privacy Statement (OPS) applies to data collected by Onison through its Web sites and services, as well as its customer support services. Some of Onison’s customers have rules that deviate from the below OPS and the actual implementation for the customer may thus remove certain features.
Collection of Personal Information
In order to access Onison services, the user will be asked to sign in with an e-mail address and password. By signing in to one Onison site or service, the user may be signed into other Onison sites and services. At some Onison sites and services, we ask the user to provide personal information, such as users’ e-mail address, name, home or work address or telephone number including a zip code. If a user makes a purchase or signs up for subscription services, we might ask for information, such as users’ credit card number and billing address that is used to create a user’s billing account.
We may collect information about users’ access, including the pages the users visit, the links the users follow and other actions in the Onison sites and services. We also may collect certain standard information that the users’ browser sends to every website the users visit, such as details about users’ hardware and software such as but not limited to connection type and speed, operating system, CPU type, screen settings, browser type and its version and language, users’ IP address, access times and referring Web site addresses.
When the users receive newsletters or promotional mail from Onison, we may use customized links, web beacons or other technologies to assess whether the e-mail has been opened and which links the users follow in order to provide more focused information.
Use of Users’ Personal Information
Onison abides by the safe harbor framework by the U.S. Department of Commerce for the collection, use, and retention of data from the European Union.
Onison collects and utilizes the information to manage and improve its sites and operate the services or execute transactions the user may have requested. These uses may include to making the sites or services simpler to use, performing analysis aimed at improving our products, services and technologies, providing the users with a more effective customer service, and displaying content that is customized to users’ preferences.
We use users’ personal information to communicate with the users. This includes certain mandatory service communications such as welcome letters, information on technical service issues and product improvements, security announcements, and billing reminders. We may also occasionally send the users mailings to inform the users of other products or services available from Onison and its affiliates.
Information collected through Onison sites and services may be stored and processed in Switzerland, Canada or any other jurisdiction in which Onison or its subsidiaries, agents or affiliates are established or operate data centers. By using an Onison site or service, the user consents to the transfer of information outside of user’s country. The user also expressively consents to receiving such mailings to inform the users of products and Services available from Onsion, in particular through email.
Sharing of Personal Information
Except as described in the OPS, we will not disclose users’ personal information outside of Onison and its controlled subsidiaries and affiliates without the individual user’s consent.
Some Onison services may be co-branded and offered in conjunction with a third party. If a user registers for such a service, both Onison and the third party may receive personal information collected for the co-branded service.
Occasionally, we ask third parties to provide services for us, such as delivery of mailings, customer support, hosting services, processing transactions, or analysis of services. Those third parties will only be allowed to obtain the information they need for providing the service to us. They are bound by the confidentiality of the information and they are not allowed to use it in any other way.
If Onison needs to comply with the law or with legal process served on Onison, or protect and defend its rights or property (including the enforcement of agreements), Onison may disclose users’ personal information.
Viewing Personal Information
After having been required to sign in with users’ user ID and password, the user can view or edit users’ personal information. Individual customer policies may eliminate this capability and the users’ will in effect not be able to view their user profile.
Communication Preferences
Users can prevent delivery of future promotional e-mail from Onison sites and services by reviewing the instructions in the e-mails the users will receive. Some service-related information is considered mandatory and cannot be disabled by the users unless the user cancels the service.
Security of Personal Information
Onison uses a variety of security technologies and procedures to protect information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. For example, Onison stores the information that the user provides on computer systems with restricted access, which are located in controlled facilities. When Onison transmits confidential information (such as a credit card number) over the Internet, Onison uses encryption such as Secure Socket Layer (SSL).
If a password is used to help protect user accounts and personal information, it is the users’ responsibility to keep their password confidential. Users are inclined not to share this information with anyone. If users are sharing computers, the users should always choose to log out before leaving a site or service to protect access to the user’s information from subsequent users.
Use of Cookies
Onison sites and services use "cookies" to enable the users to sign in to Onison’s services and to personalize the users’ online experience. Onison also uses cookies to store user preferences and other information on users’ computers in order to eliminate the repeated entering of the same information and to display users’ personalized content on users’ later visits to the sites and services.
If users decline cookies, they will not be able to use the services of Onison that depend on cookies.
Use of Web Beacons
Onison sites and services may contain web beacons. These are electronic single-pixel images that allow Onison to count users visits. Web beacons may be used in promotional messages or newsletters in order to receive users’ feedback whether messages have been opened and links have been followed.
We do not allow Web beacons on our sites or services from being used by third parties to collect or access user information.
Changes to the OPS
We will update the OPS to reflect changes in our services and feedback from users. When we revise the OPS, we will change the "last updated" date of the OPS. If there are material changes to the OPS, we will notify the users either by prominently posting a notice prior to implementing the changes or by notifying the users directly. It is the responsibility of the user to periodically review the OPS to be informed of how Onison is protecting users’ information.
